Biography

Paul C. Hirst represents individuals and companies throughout Colorado and California in a range of practice areas, including insurance coverage, construction, real estate/development, business, and general civil litigation.  Mr. Hirst represents business owners, developers, contractors, brokers, homeowner associations and homeowners in various transactional and litigation matters.  Mr. Hirst represents clients in both state and federal courts, as well as before administrative bodies.  He also represents clients in arbitrations and mediations.   

Mr. Hirst's practice includes advising policyholders in all aspects of insurance coverage-related matters, including the evaluation, negotiation and litigation of coverage disputes. Mr. Hirst advises policyholders on issues arising out of all types of first- and third-party polices, including commercial general liability, homeowners, property, builder's risk, errors and omissions, directors and officers, employment practices, professional liability, worker's compensation, disability and automobile policies.        

Mr. Hirst's representation of policyholders also includes insurance program review and analysis, including consulting with clients on insurance program content and placement.  Mr. Hirst counsels clients on a variety of issues, including types of coverage, limits, policy terms and conditions, deductibles and self-insured retentions, and exclusions.      

Mr. Hirst also advises developers and contractors, including specialty trades, on issues involving wrap policies, owner controlled insurance programs, project specific policies, annual policies, and alternative insurance arrangements, such as self-insurance programs, fronting programs and risk retention programs.  Mr. Hirst's representation of developers and contractors extends beyond insurance policies and includes issues that involve construction contracts, warranties, indemnity agreements, risk transfer, SB800 provisions and enhanced protection agreements, and other similar types of issues. 

Mr. Hirst counsels individuals and companies in general business matters, including the evaluation, negotiation and drafting of contracts, business disputes, partnership disputes, and other types of transactional and civil litigation matters.  He also handles broker malpractice disputes and disputes involving fiduciary relationships, real property litigation, and other types of civil litigation.   

Mr. Hirst joined McLeod Law Group, APC in 2005 and became Partner in 2013. He opened the firm's Denver office in 2016.
